Student Results from Operation Worksheets at the Glad Academy

Student Results from Operation Worksheets at the Glad Academy

We were confident student data would show improvement over just the first four days of the Glad Academy. The intent is to dispel math fear and we have completed our program and now have the student results from operation worksheets. This blog will show you some charts to demonstrate individual achievements.

Located in Los Angeles, students learn about college prep, financial literacy and more, but the basic math operations is the litmus test for math success. We venture into the order of operations, unit circle and trig ratios as a means to go beyond the basics. Here, we’ll show some of the student math results.

Each student was given four operation sheets to complete within three minutes each morning. If the student was not able to complete the sheet, the student was able to record the number of completed problems. Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication contained 100 questions, while Division contained ninety questions.

Incoming 11th Grader Results

Incoming 11th Grade Student Results

Basic mathematical operations are very useful for the incoming 11th grader. Here are some of the observations we have made based on the data:

  1. Performance improved for each day for each operation.
  2. The Addition operation sheet was the only operation the student was able to complete since Day 1. By Day 3, this student was able to complete each operation sheet within three minutes.
  3. Multiplication and Division became this student’s highest performing operations by Day 4. In other words, weaknesses became strengths. Performance for these operations improved the greatest amount compared to the other operations.

Incoming 7th Grader Results

When a student cannot complete the sheets within the three minute mark, as with the incoming 7th grader, we can assess the completed number of problems. Here are some of our notable observations:

  1. Performance for each operation improved over the four days.
  2. Addition improved the least over the four days despite being the best performing operation each day.
  3. Multiplication and Division, the student’s lowest performing operations on Days 1 and 2, respectively, improved the most over the four days compared to Addition and Subtraction.
  4. This student was decreasing in results Day 1 going from Addition to Subtraction to Multiplication to Division operations. That adjusted and leveled out on Day 3 and Day 4.
  5. Division was the student’s worst performing results until Day 4. Division represented the student’s second best performing results on Day 4.
  6. By Day 3, performance from Day 1’s Addition operation sheet was surpassed by the performance of the other operations

Glad Academy Improved Math Learning

Results show performance increase for both lowest and highest performing operations for each student. Students were not only improved their performance, they were more confident in their abilities.
