Five Online Learning Tips for Schooling at Home
There are some major differences between being in class in person versus online. One major one is the assumed responsibility students have to do the assigned work when at home in front of their own computers. As an instructor, you may want to give your students some guidance for making the most of online learning.
We want to help by giving you five tips to help your students manage:
- Use an assignment notebook. You will need to keep track of your assignments and it is easier to do with them in front of you all at once.
- Look at all of the assignments due for the week and next week (if possible) days in advance. Some assignments will require you to do hours of work. Those hours are sometimes necessary to spread across many days. So, plan ahead, use your assignment notebook and…
- Pace yourself. When you work at your own pace, you have to plan to complete the task in a timely fashion that allows you to stay sane. Plan to complete assignments hours, if not days before the last due date.
- Submit assignments early. Sometimes, you can get your instructor’s feedback days before it is due and resubmit the assignments for a better grade than you would have received. Check with your instructor to make sure this is permitted.
- Chat with your instructor and other classmates using the given portal. This way you can keep on track and stay connected when you need people.
